GHOST TREES (I, II)
Ghost Tree I and II is a sculpture series and ambient performance piece. It is an honoring of a felled friends, a Sycamore Tree, an old Olive Tree and a Eucalyptus Tree. These urban-dwelling beings were cut down to make room for human expansion in Los Angeles, CA. A visage of the original tree is ceremonially reconstructed in a burial gown, complete with nods to the creatures that were once part of the ecosystem of the Trees. In the performance, community members sit and sew the burial gown slowly, meditatively, to the stumps.
This series began with the Sycamore and continues to expand.
